The Truth You’re Avoiding May Be the One You Need Most

Faith, fear, strength, and avoidance can sound surprisingly alike. Reality Bites helps you stop, look again, and tell yourself the truth.

Some of the hardest lies to confront are the ones that sound almost like faith. Sometimes “I’m waiting on God” is trust, and sometimes it’s fear keeping us still.
“I’m just being strong” may sound admirable, even when we’re exhausted and refusing to admit we need rest. We may also assume that a painful season means God is punishing us, even though He hasn’t abandoned us at all.
Be Inspired For Real was never meant to be a place where people collect encouraging words and stay stuck. Inspiration should do more than make us feel better for a moment. It should make us pause, tell ourselves the truth, and decide what faithfulness looks like next.
That’s why I created the Reality Bites video series.
Reality Bites is a weekly, bite-sized video series for people who love God but are still navigating burnout, grief, relationships, fear, purpose, and the questions they may not feel comfortable saying out loud. They don’t need another spiritual cliché or a long lecture.
Hard Truth. Soft Delivery.
Real talk isn’t cruelty dressed up as honesty, and it doesn’t reduce a complicated struggle to a Christian catchphrase. It names what’s happening and challenges what needs to change.
Conviction is an invitation to respond, not a reason to hide.
That may mean acknowledging that you’re exhausted, not faithless, or that your progress has paused without canceling your purpose. It may mean grieving instead of performing strength.
At other times, the message may touch a nerve because you’ve been protecting an excuse, repeating a pattern, or asking God for direction after He has already made the next step clear.
I’m not here to run your life. My role is to hold up a mirror, point you back to Scripture, and leave you with something worth considering after the video ends.
Scripture Is More Than a Caption
Reality Bites isn’t motivational advice with a little Jesus added at the end. Every episode is grounded in Scripture.
I don’t create a message and then hunt for a verse that makes it sound spiritual. I begin with what Scripture teaches and consider how it speaks to the situations people are actually living through.
Some episodes mention a specific passage, while others communicate a biblical principle without quoting chapter and verse. Either way, God’s Word shapes the message.
John 1:14 describes Jesus as full of grace and truth, and that combination matters to me. Truth without compassion can make people stop listening. Compassion without honesty may feel comforting, but it won’t help us grow.

Don’t Just Watch It. Sit With It.
Reality Bites isn’t short because it lacks substance. It’s short because clarity doesn’t need a long speech.
Most episodes last about 90 seconds by design. Think of each short take as a pause button, not a complete answer. It creates enough space to stop and ask a better question:
What did this make me notice?
What truth have I been avoiding?
What would a faithful response look like now?
Watching is easy. But allowing truth to examine your choices, attitudes, and patterns takes more. I know one episode won’t solve your life, but it may help you name what needs attention. Your next step could be rest, prayer, an apology, an honest conversation, a change in direction, or Christ-centered support.
That’s Reality Bites: real life, real faith, and the kind of truth that leads to real growth.
Now, Let’s Get Real
