The Cost of Not Investing in Yourself
Let’s be honest, most people don’t stall in life because they lack potential or faith. They stall because they refuse to invest in themselves. As the founder of Be Inspired For Real and our newly launched faith-based coaching services, I have watched believers pray for a breakthrough while simultaneously avoiding the very process that would produce it.
We don’t usually say, “I refuse to grow.” Instead, we hide behind believable excuses.
5 Popular Reasons We Avoid Investing in Ourselves
“I don’t have time.” What people really mean is, “I am overwhelmed, and slowing down feels uncomfortable.” But if your schedule never includes you, burnout becomes your lifestyle.
“I’ll figure it out on my own.” That sounds noble, but it is often pride dressed as independence. If you could have solved it alone, you probably would have by now.
“It’s not that bad.” Many are so accustomed to dysfunction that they normalize it. Pain becomes familiar, so anything healthier feels strange.
“Others need me more.” Serving everyone else feels safe. It keeps you distracted from looking inward. But sacrifice is not the same as neglect.
“I’ll start when life calms down.” Here’s the truth you don’t want to hear: life isn’t going to open up magically. Growth requires intentionality, not convenience.
These excuses feel valid. They fit neatly into faith language and busyness culture. But they cost you years. They cost you peace. They cost you clarity. They cost you purpose.

What Changes When You Finally Invest in Yourself
Let’s flip the narrative. Here is what happens when you finally invest in yourself:
You start hearing your own voice again. Noise doesn’t drive you anymore; discernment does.
Clarity shows up where confusion ruled. When someone helps you process, life stops spinning.
Patterns break. You recognize cycles you didn’t even realize were generational or emotional.
Confidence returns. You stop shrinking and start moving differently.
Dreams stop being theories. They become plans, actions, and outcomes. This is my favorite!
Where Coaching Fits In
That's where coaching comes in, not as a rescue mission, but as a structured space where you can think, breathe, confront truth, and execute.
People misunderstand coaching. They assume it’s therapy, correction, or performance pressure. In reality, it’s companionship.
Coaching asks:
“What do you want?”
Then walks with you while you pursue it.
Sometimes the breakthrough God gives you isn’t a miracle; it's a person He sends to help you unlock what He already put inside you.
Your Future Self Is Waiting on Today
So ask yourself:
What does postponing your growth cost you?
What if the thing you keep waiting for will never start without you?
At Be Inspired For Real, we don’t exist to fix people. We exist to walk with you while you rise, rebuild, and reset — spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
