My Journey to Faith

I was born in Mchinji, Malawi, with a sense of destiny spoken over my life. Yet my journey has not been easy. From childhood, I faced rejection, hunger, and hardship. In 1993, while living with relatives, I often went without food. One day, a bird led me to fruit in the bush, and I felt God’s Spirit whisper: “Be strong and courageous, for I am with you...” (Deuteronomy 31:6). That moment taught me that even in the darkest times, Christ provides.
In 1994, my own mother rejected me, saying I was not her son. The pain was deep, but I remembered Joseph’s story (Genesis 37:28) and chose to trust God. These early trials shaped my faith and taught me perseverance.
At sixteen, I began sharing God’s word in villages, marketplaces, and schools (Matthew 28:19-20). Though mocked and persecuted, I held fast to Christ’s promise: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness” (Matthew 5:10). My faith grew stronger each time I faced rejection.
Later, I served the poor elderly by fetching water and firewood and working in their gardens (Matthew 25:31-46). This service became the seed of my ministry. I promised God that if I completed secondary school, I would help others access education. In 2000, He opened doors through supporters abroad, allowing me to assist students with school fees. That promise became the foundation of Steps of Hope Ministry, which today supports the poor, marginalized, and young people in Malawi.
Marriage and family also tested my faith. Though I faced struggles, I remained steadfast, and God blessed me with my wife, Martha, and our two children, James and Richard (Psalm 127:3). My family is both a challenge and a blessing, reminding me daily of God’s grace.
Through all these seasons—rejection, poverty, persecution, and service—I have learned that Christ is faithful. My testimony is not about visions alone, but about how God sustained me when I had nothing, how He turned pain into purpose, and how He continues to use my life to encourage others.

Lessons for Readers
God provides in times of need. Even when resources seem gone, He makes a way.
Rejection is not the end. Like Joseph, we can rise above betrayal when we trust God.
Faith grows through service. Helping the poor and marginalized strengthens our walk with Christ.
Trials refine us. Hardship is not wasted; it prepares us for a greater purpose.
Today, through Steps of Hope Ministry, I continue to serve communities in Malawi, offering education support, encouragement, and the message of Christ’s love. My journey shows that no matter the trials, God is faithful, and His grace sustains us.
